Gabrielle Union may be best known for her turn as cheer captain Isis in the duelingcheerleaders flick
Bring It On. Union began modelling shortly before her graduation from UCLA, and after graduation the modelling jobs turned into acting jobs. She made guest appearances on more than a dozen TV shows, including
Friends, Deep Space Nine, and 7th Heaven. Her feature film debut was in the high school romantic comedy
She's All That (1999, with
Rachael Leigh Cook. Then came
Bring It On, another high school story with Union as the toughminded urban rival of
Kirsten Dunst's suburban cheer queen. Union stepped up to a starring role in the romantic comedy
Deliver Us From Eva (2003), appeared with
Jet Li and rapper
DMX in the 2003 gangster drama
Cradle 2 the Grave, and costarred with
Jamie Foxx in Breakin' All the Rules (2004). In 2005 she played longsuffering wife Alice Kramden in the feature film remake of the old
Jackie Gleason sitcom
The Honeymooners (with
Cedric the Entertainer in the Gleason role).
Extra credit: Union married NFL running back Chris Howard on 5 May 2001... According to a 2001 article in
USA Today, Union is 5'7" tall.
